My Smile Makeover At Orchard Scotts Dental – Part 2

It is always SO exciting to write a post and have readers telling me they can’t wait for the sequel! Makes me really happy to share my stories with you guys! =D Thank you for making me happy! =DDDDD

I really wanted to churn out this post quickly but it’s really hard work, you know! All that editing and making side-by-sides and adding text and writing and all. *wipes sweat. I spent at least 12 hours for each post.

But it’s worth it, every time! 😀 I love knowing that people appreciate what I do and more so when I can help them better their lives even in the tiniest ways.

You would have read in <<My Smile Makeover At Orchard Scotts Dental – Part 1>> the things I didn’t like about my original smile. Here’s a recap:

The uneven gum line was corrected via Laser Gum Recontouring in Visit 3. Changes for everything else, you’ll see in this post!

Visit 4 – Getting On Temporaries

So many moulds!

Check out the needles in the background. Actually I’m not afraid to visit a dentist. Having had funny teeth from young and braces before, I’ve had my share of encounters with dentists who were uncaring, rough-handling, and had BAD BREATH (OMG I wanted to die!), so coming to Orchard Scotts Dental and having Dr Jerry fix my teeth is like coming to Heaven from Hell.

Getting ready for the procedure with Dr Jerry. We’re getting Temporary Veneers today! They call it ‘Temporaries’ for short.

I was given headphones that played soothing music while Dr Jerry worked on preparing my teeth for the Temporaries.

Orchard Scotts Dental was in the midst of putting together their corporate video, so I was asked if I was willing to be videographed. That’s Joshua and Rudy from ReelityTV.

Yeah, this is how I look every morning when I wake up – with nice makeup and teeth, and just a little bit of messy hair, just like in the movies. BAHAHA!!

Taking a look at my Temporary Veneers for the very first time. =D

This is a side-by-side comparison of my before and after temporary veneers. Difference in lighting aside, in the ‘before’ my smile looked hidden and the right front tooth was jutting out. In the ‘after’, my teeth looked more aligned and brighter, and I took a FRONTAL SHOT! I never dared to take frontal shots and rarely from my right because of the yellow teeth and slightly crooked teeth on the right.

SO HAPPY!!! 😀 Orchard-Scotts-Dental-Singapore-Review_Temporary-Veneers_10.1

You can see bumps on my face because I was still recovering from the horrifying facial incident. It’s even more obvious in the video because of close-ups. BOO. Whatever.

GOODBYE OLD SMILE (below)! Don’t have to find specific angles no more!

My Temporaries Fell Out!

During my sleep on the night of getting the Temporaries, I suddenly felt something in my mouth – it was hard and awkward and I immediately spat it out and left it on my bedside. When I awoke I laughed to myself for having such a silly dream.

When I saw myself in the mirror I BURST OUT LAUGHING!!!

I laughed for a really long time. LOL. Mr Mode said I looked like I went to fight and got punched.

I tried to place them back but they wouldn’t stay, of course. LOL. TOO FUNNY. Luckily I didn’t swallow them in my sleep.

You can see that the inner teeth on my right had turned yellow because I ate some yellow bread the day before. Temporary Veneers do stain, real ones don’t.

For your information, Temporary Veneers are made of acrylic. Real porcelain Veneers are made of specially crafted dental ceramic, and these thin shells fit right over the front portion of your teeth, enhancing the overall appearance by masking imperfections.

When Temporaries are fitted they feel rough and don’t feel as comfortable as real teeth, or for that matter, real Veneers. The Temporaries are usually fitted as one big block – like dentures – rather than as individual teeth.

This will not happen to real Veneers!

I made for an urgent appointment to get my Temporaries fixed because the exposed teeth that had to have the surface removed were very sensitive, that and the fact that I looked hilarious.

Dr Jerry said I probably grind my teeth a lot when I sleep and that much abrasion caused my Temporaries to fall out.

Fixed! =D

Visit 5 – Porcelain Veneers

Dr Jerry and his team of nurses, who are always so friendly yet professional.

Dr Jerry meticulously placing the real Veneers one by one.

Before Dr Jerry made the final bonding of Veneers, he lightly placed them on first to let me see if I liked them. My shade of Veneers is B1. Here’s me photographing with B2, because how I look in pictures is very important to me. Haha.

Seeing my old tooth for the last time. You can see that the Veneers are slightly longer to give the appearance of a wider and fuller smile.

Comparing photos from the previous session (Visit 4) with the final result (Visit 5). The Visit 4 photos are without the Temporaries.

In case you might wanna know, the red is YSL Rouge Pur Couture 01 and the pink is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 87. :)

Comparing photos from the very first session (Visit 1) OMG MY YELLOW TEETH. =.=” with the final result (Visit 5). Orchard-Scotts-Dental-Singapore-Review_Final-Porcelain-Veneers_5.2

My goodness, what a great difference! =O

After Laser Gum Recontouring my gum line is more even, and Veneers made my teeth brighter and bigger. Veneers are, of course, more natural-looking than those worn for the Smile Trial (Visit 2) and Temporary Veneers (Visit 4).

Let’s take a moment to see how nice my teeth look now. Hohoho!

I love that the Veneers look really natural. They don’t look like those super duper white, eyes-blinding kind we see on some celebrities. Mine reflect light and there’s a natural gradient to each and every tooth, just like real teeth.

Oh dear, something has to be done to my receding lower gums though. You can see from this above picture that the lower teeth are all facing inwards (they were pulled inwards for braces a long time ago). The longer I delay treatment, the more my gums will recede and that increases the chances of gum disease and other complications.

Here’s chronicling my Smile Makeover journey:

Wow, can’t believe we’ve come so far! :)

I took a long time to make this chart, so please scroll up and take a look at it again. LOL!

Benefits of Veneers:

  • Extremely versatile: Can be used to solve various teeth issues such as to close gaps between teeth, teeth that are stained or discolored, lengthen small or mishapen teeth, chipped or cracked teeth, misaligned teeth
  • Undetectable: Porcelain Veneers are made to resemble real teeth, in that they are partially translucent just like your normal teeth. This means that in natural light or artificial light, porcelain veneers will look just like normal teeth. No need to worry about a fake-looking smile! Many people have commented about my nicer and brighter smile, but they can’t tell I’ve had veneers done!
  • Easy maintenance: Porcelain veneers are very easy to take care. No special instructions or considerations are necessary; just brush/floss as you usually would and your porcelain veneers will look great.

SMILE!!! =)

I don’t know what made me laugh so much! LOL! But I really did chuckle to myself while putting this collage together. Laughter is contagious, even your own. HAHAHAHAHA!!

(My mum just walked past and said “Wah, laugh until so happy ah!” LOL)

I have a video for you!

Watch my Smile Makeover journey below!

(It feels very awkward watching yourself and hearing your own voice >.<” )

It was great fun filming with Rachell and ReelityTV! And Dr Jerry was really good at filming, Rachell and I kept messing up our lines but Dr Jerry was always a one-take, and he even had to explain technical terms! *applause!

In the video we also had Mr Gerhad, the doctor who artfully crafted each and every of my Veneers. Thank you, Mr Gerhad! 😀

Big THANK YOU to Dr Jerry for giving me my Smile Makeover! Now I can go be a bride with my new, bright, radiant, full smile! YAYYY!!!

You can go check out the other services Orchard Scotts Dental provides HERE.

Now that the Smile Makeover is complete, I’ll do something about the receding gums soon.

I cancelled the ‘ugly’ in ‘ugly crown’ because Dr Jerry made it less ugly by smoothing it out a little.

I really wouldn’t know the actual price for each procedure. Each one of us is different, and so will our requirements for a Smile Makeover. You can always give them a call or drop them an email. The people at Orchard Scotts Dental are very friendly and professional, it’s something I really appreciate! =)

I’ll leave you with a picture of me laughing so wide you can see my new smile in its entirety. (Why do I keep laughing when I see this picture of myself laughing?!?!! LOL!!!)

As always, thanks for reading! =D

Just for fun: Which areas of your smile would you like to be improved? 😀

About Bun Bun

Hello! My name is Juli and Bun Bun is my alter-ego. I blog to share my love for makeup, how to apply it, and what works or what doesn’t work, all from an Asian perspective.

My first makeup product was a shimmery light blue lipstick which I proudly wore all over my eyelids and lips. It cost $2.50, felt like $250, and made me feel like a million bucks.

Throughout this blog you will see Bun Bun in different poses.

Instead of using numbers (3/5, 4/5) or alphabets (B+, A+) to rate products, I put Bun Bun in different positions and expressions to represent the rating given to the product after a review.

In Bun-O-Meter, the first on the list would mean a 5/5 rating and the last one a 1/5 rating.

You can always refer to the sidebar any time you don’t understand what Bun Bun’s pose means.

I hope you enjoy reading my makeup and beauty posts as much as I did writing them.

Talk to you soon! =)

OHHH That’s why I thought when I read your Shu Uemura The Lightbulb Fluid Foundation | Shu Uemura Holiday Collection 2013 post and any other posts that .. you looked different .. brighter?… but I couldn’t figure out why and what made the difference. I just realized from the last post (and from this post lol) that .. this makeover was done in May!
I want this Veneers! R-E-A-L-L-Y! It looks so natural like you are wearing nothing T T. OMG Is this kind of thing is available in Thailand? I cannot describe how your smile looks prettier.

  • hatako47

If you had proceed with the receding gums procedure, what was it going to be? I did a few research and came across gum grafting, however, I don’t think my gums are that serious to get under the knife.

  • Evonnz

i love it!! wahlao make me also wanna do lor.

  • Jassy Bee

I love your big smiles! You look delirious (in a very good way;))

  • uglyfatchick

I am very afraid of going to the dentist. other than the pain I have to go through, they always scold me for not flossing properly or brushing properly and on top of that the fees are really scary. 😛 Easily thousands. 😛 But if money and pain wasn’t a concern I would whiten my teeth,  straighten my lower teeth. 😀

  • JenniferPetronella

So pretty! Makes me think about doing a consultation with my dentist. I know what you mean about hearing yourself speak on camera! I always feel my voice is lower than it actually is. For some reason, I was surprised when you spoke with an accent, then I remembered where you live! I am ridiculous. Congrats on your new smile!

  • BunBunMakeupTips

BAMBIx  Yay!! Thanks for the compliment! I think that’s the awesome thing about Veneers. They really are as good as a makeover, but remain really natural until you can’t tell! You probably can get them done in Thailand, especially since you are from Thailand. It’s just more convenient for me to do it at Orchard Scotts Dental. I can just pop by for a review anytime and it makes me feel safer that they’re just a quick phonecall away.

  • BunBunMakeupTips

hatako47  My procedure is complete! Will do up a post soon =)

  • BunBunMakeupTips

uglyfatchick  Is it because it’s hard to get the bristles in between your teeth? When I had crooked teeth before braces my teeth were often dirty too because the toothbrush bristles just could not get between them to brush cleanly.

  • BunBunMakeupTips

JenniferPetronella  Veneers really do make a huge difference! I’m so glad I went ahead to do it, in preparation for the upcoming wedding photoshoot! =) How are your teeth like now?

  • JenniferPetronella

BunBunMakeupTipsJenniferPetronella Oh, my teeth are straight enough, but not much of them show when I smile and they’re pretty short. I usually don’t smile with my teeth showing anyway. I broke off part of my front tooth when I was little and although I’m sure I’m the only one who notices it, I can tell where the crown is 😉 I’ll attach a smiling photo.

I can’t wait to see your wedding photos – You will be a beautiful bride!

  • Meteloides

Dental stuff in the United States is super expensive, so I wouldn’t be able to do anything even if I wanted to. I had braces too when I was little, and it was so painful to keep wearing the retainer afterwards, and eventually I just lost it. One of my teeth is actually pushed slightly behind another, and they’re super jammed together, too.

You look awesome, though! Your new smile is so pretty!

  • SkyJensen

Wow, that is a big change. It seems like a cool thing that can boost yourself esteem a lot faster than braces can. I like how you should what the whole process of getting veneers is. Question are your made of porcelain?

  • FelicitySandy

I really like the benefit section for veneers because of the versatility they offer. It looks like you have such an amazing smile now! Dr. Jerry really did a magnificent job with your teeth. That’s what I’m looking for when I see what options there are for veneers. Thanks so much for all of these gorgeous pictures and your experience of the whole thing!

  • sfreddson2156

Thanks for sharing your process with us! Getting veneers/implants is a complicated process. People don’t realize that it can often take quite a while! I think it’s helpful for people to read experiences like those when they’re making choices because it can help them to make a more educated choice about the procedure. Thanks for sharing your tips with us!

  • correysmith321

Wow, what a beautiful smile that the girl has had. She must have had a great dentist to help her out in having that type of perfect smile. I wonder though, how long did the process take in order to have that perfect smile?
