We all know the importance of a proper cleansing routine – the lack of one will lead to outbreaks, puffiness around the eyes, formation of fine lines. It shouldn’t take longer to remove your makeup than it does to put it on but you still need to be thorough.

My definition of a good makeup remover is one that quickly and effectively removes makeup while at the same time is gentle to my skin, does not make my sensitive skin go haywire, and does not leave behind an uncomfortable residue.

The new Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover is an improved version of its predecessor, and I am happy to share with you just how much better I think it is!

But first, let me share with you The Swatch Story:

The Swatch Story

The Swatch Story is one that is close to the hearts of all (hardworking and professional *ahem* hehehe) beauty bloggers. We aim to produce accurate swatches of products – foundation, gel-liner, blush, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, lipstick, lip gloss, and more.

The reader takes about 2 seconds to scroll through swatch images, maybe more if she’s interested in a particular shade, but it would have taken the blogger about 1000 times of those 2 seconds to create the image from swatching > photographing > editing > writing > publishing.

Here’s my illustration of The Swatch Story:

And so on.

You see, in order to quickly switch from one set of swatches to another, I need an all-rounder makeup remover that can remove long-wearing makeup eg. waterproof mascara, smudgeproof eyeliner, super red lipstick.

It must get the job done quickly, without the need for rubbing or scratching as these will leave red marks on my skin which will show in the next set of swatches. It must also leave a non-sticky and non-greasy after-feel for the next set to go on as clean and soft skin is the best base for accurate swatches.

The new and improved Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover is all of that and more. Makes my life so much easier now! :)

2-Step Removal Process

Start: Pump 2-3 pumps onto your hands and massage into skin to dissolve makeup

End: Rinse thoroughly

Hahaha SUPER EASY!! One product, two steps, to remove all that makeup.

While it doesn’t enter and sting the eyes, don’t try and be a hero by purposely opening your eyes while it’s working to dissolve your eye makeup! (I speak from personal experience hahaha)

Old Vs New

I bought the Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover Version #1 when it first launched coz I was excited to try out the new jelly-like makeup remover in town.

It wasn’t a bad product, but it didn’t satisfy my need for a makeup remover that works quickly and effectively. It cleaned, but took too much time – too much rubbing, too much rinsing, and it left my skin feeling a little taut. I then went on to explore other options.

I’m really glad Biore decided to make improvements to this product!

Here’s a little experiment to compare the textures of the old and new:

I pumped out both removers at the same time and at the tilt, the new Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover trickled down instantly while the old one took a much longer time.

The old one is closer to a jelly-like texture, while the new and improved version flows more like water.

A higher viscosity translates into a lightweight formula that is much easier to rinse off without harsh tugging on the skin. After rinsing completely, my skin feels refreshed without a sticky or greasy feel.

On my first try I was pleasantly surprised to find my skin feeling soft and supple! No dry or taut feeling at all! This has to be attributed to the 40% moisturizing serum content to pamper the skin beyond basic cleansing.

Besides product reformulation, the improved version also sees a repackaging with a more feminine design and peachy-pink colored bottle.

I have been bringing this to every Muay Thai class ever since. I don’t have a lot of time before class starts after rushing down from work, so this is the perfect makeup remover to quickly and effectively remove my makeup so that I may proceed to class with a clean, fresh, hydrated face.

Best deal: No more dealing with cotton pads. WOOHOO! 😀

About Bun Bun

Hello! My name is Juli and Bun Bun is my alter-ego. I blog to share my love for makeup, how to apply it, and what works or what doesn’t work, all from an Asian perspective.

My first makeup product was a shimmery light blue lipstick which I proudly wore all over my eyelids and lips. It cost $2.50, felt like $250, and made me feel like a million bucks.
