Estee Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance Liquid Foundation & Compact Makeup Review

Foundations are just getting better and better – they not only give hope for blemished skin to look smooth and flawless, they now come with skincare properties that promise to leave our skin feeling hydrated and fresh even AFTER we take it off.

While looking super elegant and sexy at the same time.

My Thoughts On What Makes A Good Foundation

  • On a good skin day -> Enhances my skin, not mask it
  • On a bad skin day -> Conceals my skin imperfections and not aggravate the sensitivity
  • Have enough shades to match different skin tones and undertones
  • Easy to apply and blend
  • Does not clog my pores

Estee Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance Moisture Infused Liquid Makeup SPF15/PA++ fulfills all my requirements and then some. I am in LOVE.

I first got to try it at the Estee Lauder photoshoot.

It also comes with SPF15 and is super-charged with the ingenious Revival Plant Extract which has the ability to preserve itself from dryness. Say what?

This extract is derived from the hardiest wild flowering plant in the Balkans, known as the ‘Resurrection Plant’. It survives in the harshest weather conditions by being able to completely dry out and then bounce back once water is introduced.

What an interesting plant, isn’t it!  Woah, what would I give to possess such dexterity for survival and self-motivation! It leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated even AFTER removing it.

The formula also contains a patented Sustainable Moisture Complex composed of hyaluronic acid and ceramide spheres to lock in the moisture even after makeup is removed.

Hydrated skin is hard to come by, especially in our erratic weather, so this moisture-infused foundation is definitely going to deliver the extra dewiness that Asian skin needs.

This picture was taken after 7 hours of wear and there was hardly any signs of foundation fading. No cracking, no settling into fine lines, and no magnification of pores.

It is also buildable from medium to full coverage without turning cakey or looking mask-like.

9 Shades

9 shades, divided into warm tones (starting with ‘Warm’) and cool tones (starting with ‘Cool’) make color-matching easy.

2W0 Warm Vanilla is my best fit. It’s best that you go down to the ION Orchard Estee Lauder boutique to get your shade fitting. More details at the end of this post!

Sophistication In A Bottle

Estee Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance Moisture Infused Liquid Foundation is suspended in a sleek, sophisticated pump bottle, allowing more control and less waste of product. I love brands that put in effort into their packaging. Sometimes less is more and this minimalistic design looks posh and classy.

Estee Futurist Aqua Brilliance Compact Makeup SPF20/PA++

I usually reach for liquid foundations more than compact powders simply because the latter tend to accentuate dry flaky skin on my chin. But this compact foundation from Estee Lauder is not so much a powder, but more of a cream texture. I have it in my bag for touch-ups.

Estee Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance Moisture Infused Liquid Makeup SPF15/PA++ retails at SGD58.

Estee Futurist Aqua Brilliance Compact Makeup SPF20/PA++ retails at SGD88.

About Bun Bun

Hello! My name is Juli and Bun Bun is my alter-ego. I blog to share my love for makeup, how to apply it, and what works or what doesn’t work, all from an Asian perspective.

My first makeup product was a shimmery light blue lipstick which I proudly wore all over my eyelids and lips. It cost $2.50, felt like $250, and made me feel like a million bucks.

Throughout this blog you will see Bun Bun in different poses.

Instead of using numbers (3/5, 4/5) or alphabets (B+, A+) to rate products, I put Bun Bun in different positions and expressions to represent the rating given to the product after a review.

In Bun-O-Meter, the first on the list would mean a 5/5 rating and the last one a 1/5 rating.

You can always refer to the sidebar any time you don’t understand what Bun Bun’s pose means.

I hope you enjoy reading my makeup and beauty posts as much as I did writing them.

Talk to you soon! =)
