When In Bangkok, Muay Thai: Chakrit Muay Thai School

While on a company trip, my colleagues (whom I also do Muay Thai with) and I took the opportunity to take a Muay Thai lesson in the country of this great sport. We began lessons in Singapore a few months ago and our instructor recommended this gym when we told him we wanted to try Muay Thai in Bangkok.

It wasn’t hard to find. We dropped off at Phrom Phong station and walked about 5 minutes to Sukhumvit Soi 39.

I felt SUPER NERVOUS when we arrived. Haha. Nervous and excited!! 😀

These were taken at the end of the lesson, when our clothes were all SOAKED in perspiration and our hair looked crazy. LOL.

I know the instructors didn’t train us hard because we’re amateurs, but it felt more exhausting than a typical lesson at our Muay Thai studio in Singapore. It was non-stop execution of various drills. The 2-minute break in between each set was barely enough for me to catch my breath. The CRAZY HOT weather contributed to my slight dizziness at some point.

Beauty Lifesaver: Uriage Thermal Water

There are many things that are truly a gift from nature – air, sun, earth… and spring thermal water!

Thermal spring water is a type of mineral water that is located deep underground which contains healing properties and is exempt from bacteria and pollution. Naturally pure and rich in mineral salts, iodine and CO2, thermal water is recognized for its therapeutic properties, particularly those that concern the skin.

It was first used by doctors to treat severe skin conditions, but innovative skincare companies like Uriage have combined Uriage Thermal Water with numerous highly innovative active ingredients from biotechnological research so that people of all skin types can benefit from thermal water.

Thermal spring water is more than just water in a can – it packs a great deal of skin benefits like reducing inflammatory symptoms after dermatological surgery, laser surgery or chemical peelings; setting makeup, relief of itch, and more.

Here Are 8 Of My Favorite Uses Of Thermal Water:

[1] Itch Relief

Eczema flare ups can be controlled with steroid creams but sometimes the itch is unbearable with red patches. Constant scratching can cause infections and scars. I have friends who are eczema sufferers and the wounds on their skin is heartbreaking. =(

Uriage Thermal Water is great for people with atypical skin types like eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, due to the anti-inflammatory and soothing properties of thermal water. I personally have experienced a decrease in itchiness on my sensitive, easily irritated skin.

[2] Facial Redness

My skin never really recovered from the effects of the facial incident. :( Apart from itchiness, I have sensitive skin that gets red and raw. Sometimes it is due to the effects of acne control creams, sometimes for reasons I cannot comprehend. The Uriage Thermal Water has so far proven its ability to calm the redness and rebalance my skin each time it threatens to act up.

[3] Treatment of Burns and Wounds

Because it is loaded with regenerating minerals and antioxidants, it protects our skin against free radicals and helps prevent fine lines and the signs of aging. This product is indispensable especially since our skin is exposed to all that radiation all year round in Singapore. Super refreshing on hot days! It can also treat sunburn and superficial wounds.

[4] Post-dermo-aesthetic Procedures

As mentioned earlier, Uriage Thermal Spring Water can help treat certain inflammatory skin conditions when used as a therapeutic complement after dermatological surgery, laser surgery or chemical peelings.

Allow me to interrupt for a bit: 😛

I think my skin loves the IDEA of traveling. In the days leading to the travel date, my skin will look super good. It will feel supple and soft, and although not blemish-free, is not breaking out with uncontrollable acne. Throughout the trip, it will behave well. On the eve of the flight back to Singapore, my skin will start to retaliate. Once we get back to Singapore, it will show its resentment with random pimples and dry skin. This phenomenon is not exclusive to this Phuket holiday, it happens every time I travel! My skin is like a rebellious teenage girl with serious hormonal imbalance. It loves the IDEA of traveling but rebels when it actually hits foreign air. Grrrrr!

Lactacyd: Gentlest Cleansing For Your Most Intimate Area

With me, no topic related to beauty and skin health can be off-limits. Anything that concerns skin well-being, feeling well, and being confident about our skin is worth discussing and sharing.

While a woman averages between five to ten beauty products in the shower, surveys have shown that many women do not clean their vaginal area daily. In Singapore, only 4% of women use a feminine wash. I contributed to the 96%. 😛

Before Lactacyd, the only feminine products I spent on were sanitary pads. Like myself, most women do not spend much on other feminine products, and would only seek help when an infection occurs.

If you haven’t been washing daily, please start now. If you have, what are you using on that intimate area of yours?

Soap and water? That may not be enough!

Some parts of our body are more delicate than others – like the skin around the vaginal area. Lactacyd feminine hygiene washes are formulated specifically for this easily irritated area of the body as it is made to cleanse without causing irritation the way some harsher cleansers can.

Lactacyd feminine washes are pH balanced and formulated to work with our body’s natural chemistry to cleanse and refresh.

Something Fishy

If you have and choose to keep a bushy nether region because of whatever personal reasons, do note that lots of bushy pubic hair can increase sweating, by causing heat and friction. The hair wicks the sweat out to the surface. Sweat alone, vagina smells aside, can already contribute to odor. Sweat when combined with discharge can escalate the natural musk to a whole new level of STANK.

I guess that is why hair removal is increasingly popular these days. Less hair, less problems. Also, having less of a hairy obstruction means higher visibility for signs of abnormality.

Every woman smells different, it’s a natural part of being a woman. During menstruation and pregnancy, pH levels go through major changes too and affect the vaginal odor. After an intense workout, that area may have a stronger, musky smell from the surrounding sweat glands.

However, smelling different and smelling unpleasant are very different things. Nobody wants to smell… erm, fishy?

You can improve your well-being by using Lactacyd feminine washes to maintain the natural pH balance of the vagina, minimize odor and prevent infection.

(However if the odor turns foul, discharge looks unusually yellow/green, it starts to itch or you just don’t smell right, trust your instinct and see your doctor. These may be signs of a vaginal infection.)

Choosing The Right Feminine Care Product

Just so you know, the vaginal pH level is around 4.5. Baby girls have pH 7, it increases to 4.5 during puberty, is unstable during menstruation and pregnancy, and approaches pH 7 during menopause. Source:

Strong soaps or body washes can dry out the mucous membrane of the vulva and cause irritation. These harsh products typically are more alkaline and can affect the natural pH of the vagina and disrupt the healthy balance.

All Lactacyd feminine washes are made from natural and mild ingredients for intimate health without any risk of irritation.

For Beauty & Health: New Moon Collagen Powder + Bircher Muesli

I’m a huge fan of Bircher Muesli. Every time I stay in a hotel with breakfast, I’ll look forward to having that. You can serve me the fanciest of international breakfast, but I’d like to have my Bircher Muesli first, thank you. Simple things make me happy. I also make it at home because it is super simple to make! =)

Fun fact: Bircher Muesli was developed around 1900 by Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Brenner as part of a healing therapy for his patients. It has remained a popular meal or snack till this day because it is easy to make and is nutrient-packed. You can add anything you desire but popular ingredients include rolled oats, milk, lemon juice, honey, grated apples, cinnamon, dried nuts, dried fruits, toasted coconut, yogurt. This delicious mixture of muesli is packed with flavor and essential nutrients and super healthy!

How To Make Bircher Muesli

For my own Bircher Muesli, I added:

  • Traditional rolled oats (the oatmeal grains concoction is soaked overnight with juice or milk to give that mushy texture. Instant oats just lack that somethin’-somethin’)
  • Chia seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Honey (you can use condensed milk, maple syrup)
  • Unsweetened soy milk (or almond milk)
  • Banana
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • New Moon Inner Radiance Collagen Powder << secret ingredient!  :D

Simply throw all your favorite fruits/nuts into a mixing bowl with the oats and milk. Mix well and refrigerate overnight. In the morning you’ll have delicious overnight oats (alternative name for Bircher Muesli) ready for breakfast!

Secret Ingredient

The Bircher Muesli can be kept up to 5 days (but usually I make just enough for 2 days), so after apportioning my breakfast I’ll put the rest back into the fridge.

After that, I’ll add my SECRET INGREDIENT. Heeheehee.

Review: Sephora Collection Colorful 5 Eyeshadow Palettes – Purple, Matte & Taupe

On the eyes – The Essential Mattes (05)

In recent years, the focus of my makeup has shifted from the eyes to the lips. My love for colorful, bold, bright eye makeup looks have given way to bright and statement-making lip colors. I can’t have it all – colorful eyes and bright lips – together, can I? I mean, I COULD, but it wouldn’t be work-appropriate and I want the focus to be on my lips.

However, I don’t want to have no color on my lids, I just want a more classic look to compliment a bright lip. Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE breaking into colors but I reserve them for special occasions or when I’m in the mood for something fun.

Sephora launched TEN Colorful 5 Eyeshadow Palettes about a year ago, of which I own Flirty to Intense Purple (03), The Essential Mattes (05) and Pale to Rich Taupe (06).

For All To See

Each palette comes in a nifty, chic looking packaging with 5 eyeshadows. When I first saw how slim the mirror was, I thought it was as good as not having one coz it was too slim! But when I first took it to the roads, WOW, it was oddly sufficient for eye makeup application. In fact, I thought it was brilliant that that thin height enabled a more focused application.

Retailing at SGD36.00, of course it cannot compare to high-end eyeshadow palettes with fancy designs or a heavier weight to denote luxury. It comes in a black plastic packaging that shuts well but is not too difficult to open. Very travel-friendly in terms of size, weight, security. It comes with a duo-ended applicator, but I don’t use it.

The best thing about it is the see-through top. Straight away I can see which palette to pick. :)

Different Looks & Finishes

What you get are really good quality eyeshadows. I was impressed by how pigmented and long-lasting most of them are.

The Essential Mattes (05)

The Essential Mattes (05) Swatches

I love ALL shades in The Essential Mattes. I usually have the middle shade as an overall lid color, the second peachy shade at the contour area to create warmth, the fourth shade for the Outer-V, the fifth shade as a hint of eyeliner, and then the first pale shade to diffuse any hard edges up towards the brow bone. All 5 are matte shades.

Step-By-Step Guide On Making Your First Purchase Via Ebates

Even though one of the biggest handbag trends for the past several seasons has been the drawstring handbag, I didn’t own one. Probably because I hadn’t found one that really appealed to me!

But when I saw the Elliott Lucca ‘Gigi Bon Bon’ Perforated Leather Drawstring Bag on Nordstrom, I HAD TO HAVE IT IN LINEN.

With that in mind, I hopped over to to earn some cash back. MUAHAHA.
